According to the Public Relations Office of University of Science and Technology of Mazandaran, the university held a ceremony in honor of Martyr Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari and to celebrate Teacher’s Day and recognize top-performing faculty members at the Abbasabad Tourism Complex in Behshahr. The event was attended by university officials and faculty members.

At the opening, Dr. Ahmadreza Rabbani, President of the University, commemorated Martyr Motahhari and highlighted the qualities of exemplary teachers, referencing Imam Ali’s saying: “O seeker of knowledge! The scholar has three traits: knowledge, forbearance, and measured silence; the pretender has three traits: he disputes over what is above him through disobedience, oppresses those beneath him through force, and supports the oppressors.” He emphasized that a teacher’s knowledge encompasses mastery of subject matter, understanding of theoretical foundations, awareness of the latest research, and the ability to convey concepts clearly and engagingly. Teachers must continually seek knowledge to cultivate informed and capable generations, serving as a guiding light for students.

Dr. Rabbani further explained that forbearance and patience are essential moral and educational virtues, enabling teachers to manage students with varying learning abilities and behaviors effectively. He highlighted the importance of measured silence in communication, avoiding unnecessary or harmful remarks, and fostering a respectful and reflective learning environment. He also stressed that educators must avoid injustice, favoritism, or support of wrongdoing and noted the responsibility of the academic community to advocate for justice, citing the recent suffering of Palestinians as a reminder of this duty.

Emphasizing the importance of fostering hope among students, Dr. Rabbani encouraged faculty to guide young people in facing challenges, developing ethical conduct, and nurturing teamwork, self-confidence, and motivation to contribute to society.

Hojjatoleslam Heydari, Representative of the Supreme Leader’s Office at the University, congratulated faculty members on Teacher’s Day and reflected on the life and teachings of Martyr Motahhari. He highlighted the martyr’s devotion to God, night prayers, moral virtues, scholarly productivity, and innovative approach to knowledge creation. He emphasized that Motahhari dedicated his life to personal and societal development and courageously addressed contemporary issues while promoting innovation in education.

Heydari also noted that reinforcing religious culture and providing exemplary role models among faculty strengthens the societal position of teachers and educators.

The ceremony concluded with the recognition of outstanding faculty members from the university’s colleges:

• Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Dr. Nabiollah Ramazani, Dr. Ali Ghanbari
• Faculty of Chemical, Industrial, and Civil Engineering: Dr. Mohsen Rezaei, Dr. Seyed Mahdi Kia
• Faculty of Sciences: Dr. Ali Tahmasbi, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Aliannejadi

Other highlights included honoring Dr. Mohammad Baqer Nikzad, a retired faculty member, a live musical performance by Professor Vazifeh Shenas, and a visit by faculty members to the Abbasabad Cultural Heritage Complex.
