According to the Public Relations Office of Mazandaran University of Science and Technology, a roundtable discussion for faculty and elite scholars on the topic of “Applying Artificial Intelligence in Academic Activities: Benefits and Emerging Challenges” was held on Monday, 17 Shahrivar 1404 (September 8, 2025) in the Shaheed Kaboli Meeting Hall. The session featured Dr. Jamshid Pirgazi, Dr. Ali Ghanbari-Sorkhi, and Dr. Reza Javanmard, faculty members of the Department of Computer Engineering.
At the opening, Hojjatoleslam Heydari, Representative of the Supreme Leader at the University, emphasized the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications across various fields, including education and research, healthcare, industry, transportation, and services. He noted that, as the world increasingly leverages this technology, Iran should also capitalize on the expertise of its faculty and scientists to enhance the capabilities of different sectors through AI, while carefully considering its associated challenges.
Highlighting recent remarks by the Supreme Leader during a meeting with government officials, Heydari stressed that leaders and faculty must act as narrators of the country’s strength, resources, and potential rather than its shortcomings, emphasizing the pivotal role of university professors in this regard.
Following the opening remarks, Dr. Jamshid Pirgazi, Dr. Ali Ghanbari-Sorkhi, and Dr. Reza Javanmard presented insights on the advantages and emerging challenges of applying AI in faculty academic activities, discussing practical applications, potential benefits for research productivity, and the ethical and operational considerations associated with AI integration in higher education.
