According to the public relations office of University of Science and Technology of Mazandaran, and based on the report from the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), which annually monitors scientific and research indicators, University of Science and Technology of Mazandaran has made significant progress. The university has climbed 25 places among D8 countries' universities, now ranking 71st at the national level and 263rd among all D8 universities.
The ISC report states that to rank universities in D8 countries, the main missions of the universities, including research, innovation, education, and international activities, are considered. The assessment criteria include research volume, citation impact, normalized citation impact, global citation impact, and publication in top international journals. For education, criteria include the student-to-faculty ratio and the number of highly cited faculty members. International activities are measured by the number of collaborations in Web of Science publications, the number of international collaborations, and the university's reputation in international ranking systems such as Times, QS, and Shanghai, as well as the number of retracted articles. Innovation is evaluated by the number of patents and collaborations with industry.
It should be noted that University of Science and Technology of Mazandaran's ranking among D8 universities in 2021, 2022, and 2023 was 293, 288, and 263, respectively, showing a 25-place improvement in 2023 compared to 2022.
